On the Road with Positive Money

“A good traveler has no fixed plans, and is not intent on arriving.” – Lao Tzu

Summer is a season of abundance. Gardens are brimming with produce and blooms. The days are long. Schedules are relaxed. Families are enjoying time with one another.

This abundance is on my mind this week as my son and I take a road trip to Bozeman, Montana where my wife’s family has roots. Her father and our son’s namesake, was born there. Her grandfather, Roland Renne, was President of now Montana State University from 1943 to 1964 where the library is named after him. Her cousin, currently a professor there, is married to a wonderful man who presided over our wedding in Washington, DC the same summer gay marriage was deemed legal by the Supreme Court.

Talk about legacy.

Talk about a rich life.

Travel is one way to reconnect with people and things that make life rich

On the Road with Positive Money

If I ever wonder whether it’s worth the time, money, or energy to cultivate such connections, I think back on the effort it took others who may have faced even greater obstacles of time, distance, or funds to show up for one another or a meaningful cause. This investment in something we care about opens the door to the joy, learning, and connection that are possible and make life rich.

This is the spirit behind the fifth Principle of Positive Money: When you give and receive equally, you experience the power of connection.
